Step 1undefined Contact us to receive an application for admission or download and print one yourself.
Step 2 Submit Application. Once received, your application will be assigned to a Faculty Member from one of our four schools (School of Grammar, School of Logic, School of Rhetoric, School of Poetics) depending upon the age/grade level of your child. That Faculty Admissions Liaison will contact you to set up a time to meet you and your child. He will also contact other Faculty Members who will attend that meeting.
Step 2 Family Meeting. You will meet with two or three Faculty Members including your Admissions Liaison who will talk with you about the academic program at New Albion Academy and how best to place your child within our program (we have four levels in our School of Grammar and two each in our Schools of Logic, Rhetoric, and Poetics). We'll talk about your child's academic development, his strengths and weaknesses, his study habits, his level of mastery in various disciplines and subjects, and his character. Depending on your child's age, we may ask him to write something, formulate an argument, read aloud, discuss something he's read, complete some math problems, and (if he's had Latin) demonstrate his skill in Latin. We'll also discuss your goals and desires as a family. All of this is to ensure that together we reach the right decision about where in our program to place your child. Our goal in placing a student is to ensure mastery of key elements of the curriculum and the success of your child.
Step 3 Faculty Recommendation. The Faculty Members you met with will meet to agree on a recommendation which they will then present to the full Faculty. After the faculty approves that recommendation, your Admissions Liaison will invite you accept that recommendation. If you disagree with the faculty's recommendation you may appeal that recommendation through your Admissions Liaison.
